As Councilmember and Mayor, Rob:

  • Protected the city’s budget and taxpayers. Rob helped settle an $80 million lawsuit that had the potential to bankrupt the city, changed the city’s reserve policy to free up $25 million for capital improvements, and generated new revenue by leasing unused parking garage space.
  • Invested in infrastructure and public spaces. Rob helped complete the city’s $1 billion Wastewater Treatment Plant, broke ground on the new Central Park playground, started renovations at the Marina Library, and funded emergency repairs to keep the MLK and Joinville pools open.
  • Revitalized Downtown San Mateo. Rob worked with the Downtown San Mateo Merchants Association to bring back community events and made the two-block pedestrian mall closure permanent.
  • Kept San Mateo families housed. Rob funded bridge-funding for tenants facing hardship, keeping more than 54 local families from losing their homes during layoffs or financial setbacks.
